WE NEED LISMORE SUPPORTERS FOR THE RAIL TRAIL!

LISMORE CAMPAIGN ABOUT TO BEGIN

Wow what a great team of supporters we had for the Tweed section of the Rail Trail!!

Now that we have found our feet again after the great turnout and result at Tweed Heads recently, it’s time to refocus on the even bigger task ahead of us in Lismore.

Lismore City Council has submitted a funding application for the continuation of the Casino to Bentley rail trail, to Lismore Station.  We hope to hear about that grant in November. What a great extension it will be!

In the meantime though, we need to put a very strong campaign together to ensure we have supportive Councillors elected on September 4th, who will support the concept of an on formation, easily maintained and steady graded walking and cycling trail.

To that end, we are asking you to show the same great support you demonstrated for Tweed, for our own local project.  We need lots of helpers!!!

We will be putting together a marketing campaign, but will need helpers to spread the word, firstly at the local markets in August. (Unfortunately the July car boot market has been cancelled.)   We need to gather information and support from businesses, residents, visitors, families to show that this is a worthy project for the Council to back.

We will need letter writers to Councillors and media, and “rent a crowd” occasionally for publicity events and photos, as well as places to put petitions and surveys across the whole shire.

Please let us know how you can help in this campaign!!  If Tweed Shire and Richmond Valley can do it, then Lismore can too!!Please contact Glenys Ritchie at gritch8@bigpond.com

A FUN DAY HAPPENING AT BEXHILL HALL!

The Bexhill Quarry Parklands team are organising a fun day at Bexhill Community Hall to help promote their vision for the old quarry.

Northern Rivers Rail Trail will go right through the old quarry so it is important we work together to turn this space into a beautiful parkland where people can swim!! Come along for a fun day and bring the kids.
